The Importance of a Good Needle part 2

March 30, 2010

“Never use a bent needle, it makes ugly and irregular stitches and see that the eye, whether round or egg-shaped, be well drilled, that it may not fray or cut the thread.”–Encyclopedia of Needlework, Therese de Dillmont

Note : The accompanying ATC features an original packet of needles manufactured by Milwards. This company has been making needles since the 1700s and, at one point, was the largest manufacturer in the world. Based in the Redditch, England area the company also produced needles for knitting, surgery and fishing tackle. Today you can still buy needles made by Milwards.
